SCHOOL PROFILE

Sekolah Seri Puteri, which was established on 6 May 1968, was initially known as Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Perempuan Jalan Kolam Ayer, Kuala Lumpur. Built on a 19-acre site that previously housed a Technical Secondary School, the school was specifically established to provide secondary-level education for female students from national-stream schools throughout the country.
In May 1968, the school admitted its first group of students, totaling 144 girls in three Form Four classes. Its first principal, Puan Khalidah Adibah Amin, was assisted by ten teachers and three non-academic staff members. In 1969, the school began recruiting contract teachers from Indonesia to address the shortage of local science and mathematics teachers. During the early years of its establishment, facilities for students were inadequate and unsuitable to support learning or student accommodation. However, these challenges did not deter the students and teachers from striving to improve the school’s performance.
